Sustainability at The Lilac Coral
Here at The Lilac Coral we believe in sustainability and giving back to the planet. We are a ZERO WASTE company; all scrap modelling clay gets re-purposed and used in marbling techniques or mixing together with other colours. Our postage packaging is sourced locally here in the UK, is made from recycled materials and is 100% recyclable.
We have partnered with Atlas Project UK who plant trees all over the world. From February 2025 we will be planting trees via their company, with sales made at our monthly artisan markets and online sales. Both companies were hand picked by Dragons’ Den - Theo Paphitis and have won his ‘Small Business Award’ link: SBS Winner
Every month The Lilac Coral has promised to plant a tree with every 5 sales made. Feb 2025 = 5 Rhizophora Mucronata (Red Mangrove) trees planted in Vilamatsa, Madagascar, 5 Markhamia Lutea (Nile Tulip) trees planted in the Tanga Region of Tanzania, 2 Accacia Senegal trees planted in the Fatick Region of Senegal.
"The tree planting projects that these trees were a part of were all chosen for the fantastic benefits they have, both environmentally and socially. These specific projects all employ local farmers on a full time basis, paying them a fair living wage, and also advocating for gender equality by ensuring they hire at least 50% female farmers. These projects have also been noted for their benefits to community development, providing financial and food security for the local populations." - Atlas Project UK

#SBS Official Winner Theo Paphitis Small Business Sunday
In November 2024 we won a Small Business Award (SBS) from Theo Paphitis (From TV's BBC Dragon's Den), recognising that we are a handmade, zero-waste company who makes unique jewellery and gifts for both children and adults.
I met Atlas Project UK at the SBS Awards, another SBS winner from 2024. It was the most natural thing to partner up with them as here at The Lilac Coral we think sustainability is important. We always wanted to create an Eco-Friendly company, and we hope in the future to become even greener.. Just watch this space! For now, we have commited to plant a tree with every 5 sales made. Atlas Project UK plant trees on our behalf all over the world, helping to re-populate our planet with trees.
We were awarded with our certificate on Friday 21st February 2025 at the SBS Conference in Birmingham. We were excited to attend for the first time, meet our new partners, Theo and many like-minded small businesses.
